Toney
Daly wanted an A400. They are however, very rare so Tony
did the next best thing. He made one. Yes, Toney took a
two door sedan and CREATED an A400 body from it. He calls
it an AB400 since a lot of the sheet metal he used to
create it was from a '32 Ford.
The
chassis for Toney's AB400 will be as hi-tech as they come.
We'll be building a custom chassis complete with a pinch
nose open wheel front end and a complete Heidt's IRS rear
suspension.
To
get the body to fit a '32 style frame, we'll need to do
some cutting. Before cutting though, we put numerous
braces in the body so it will hold it's integrity.
Here
you can see the section we cut out of the body where the
rear kick up is on a '32 chassis.
Since
we had a chassis in the shop, we dropped the body down on
it to get some bearings of where we need to begin.
To
start it off, we'll begin with a pair of '32 rails in the
jig.
Jaysun
starts the boxing process by tack welding the plates on.
The
rails are smoothed and back in the jig.
Jaysun
starts unpacking all the Heidt's goodies.
At
this point, we decided to re-group with a fresh set of
rails that we'll box once we have modified the frame. We
set the body back on and whack off the end of the rails.
